Rescue Report

Dear Fellow Pomeranian Lovers

I have been given the privilege of being the official rescue person for these wonderful little (and some not so little) bundles of love, for the Pomeranian Club of Ontario.

I operate "Homes for Abandoned Pets", and I bring home dogs from Kingston, Napanee, Ottawa, and Carleton Place Humane Society's, my veterinarian in Gananoque and some vets from the Mississauga and Kingston areas.

Occasionally I rescue cats, most of the time it is abandoned kittens that require tube feeding while being kept in incubators until they are old enough to be put into foster homes.
Some of my friends volunteer at Hospice Kingston, for the terminally ill patients, and quite a few dogs are placed for dying patients.

The dogs that come to my home are not allowed with the rest of the "general population" until they have been vaccinated, de-wormed, and debugged inside and out of all types of parasites. The quarantine time is from 48 to 72 hours, depending on the problems that a particular dog comes with. I use stainless steel cage units from veterinary supply services, with human grade sheepskin for bed ridden patients.

If any of the animals require tube feeding, I have a supply of various sizes of tubes from new born kitten and puppy to adult size.

I work with each dog individually, trying to retrain bad habits that have been caused ny negligent people. Dr. ian Dunbar has excellent books and videos on behaviour problems in dogs, and I have attended a few of his seminars.

The dogs are feed on FROMM canine Food which is an all natural food containing no preservatives or dyes. Even their trreats are natural. If any have immune related problems, either inherited or stress related, I have found the the "Missing Link" food supplement is excellent at oosting the immune system. I have proven manu times that it works.

Some day I hope to have a facility large enough to house all of the wonderful senior dogs that people no longer want due to their age. They make excellent pets and are SO grateful.

If any of the members knows someone that is interested in a dog, other than a pomeranian, would you please give them my name and phone number. There are many rescues looking for homes both at my home and with friends that foster odgs that I do not have room for.

We desperately need used crates. All donations would be very welcome, however we are quite willing to buy if reasonable prices.
